Windows 7 update for HP Quickplay
I just updated my «HP Pavilion dv6871us» from windows vista to windows 7, and I’ve been experiencing some problems with the HP Quickplay. It takes forever to load and then it doesn’t work properly. I figured all I needed to do was update the driver, but I can not find any updates for my computer on the hp website. how would i go about finding an update for HP Quickplay.
Open Quick Play and click on the globe ,it will open a window where you should see option to update QP.

Nice Rakhmad, that way you don’t have to keep QP open while it downloads that huge 148meg file ,tying up the laptop for anything else useful.
Of course everyone may not be as impatient as I?

with the above update for windows (i am using vista (hp) which version is it quick play -qpw or qpd —quick play direct ?.
as i am having issues trying restore quick play (qpd) which was pre installed on my notebook -hdx9228 , if iinstall the quick play qpw -for windows i loose my restore points !! even system recovery will not bring back quick play to the key pad .
(otherwise quick play works 100% with windows media center , tv /radio etc , any help would be gratefull .)
thanks for your helpfull suggestions to fix the quick play problem, however nothing worked !.
i reinstalled quickplay first (as you suggested ) .7 v 6112 then the quick launch buttons , all works ok , as before, but i still loose any restore points (error 0x0 81000202 )?.
and also when i start up again i get the (run time error ) program:c:\program files\hp\quick play\qp service.exe ?.
the only way to get my restore points back was to uninstall «quick time » and do a » system recovery».
is the only way to get the quick play to work , with causing any other issues , do a complete recovery from scratch .?
QuickPlay in Windows 7
Hi, I have recentely upgraded my Pavilion tx 2009 au from Vista home premium to Windows 7 ultimate everything is working fine except Quick play button , DVD button and play, forward, rewind button located on the right side of my touch screen panel but then I realized that I haven’t installed the quickplay software and hp sling player on my laptop. I am unable to find it on hp website for pavilion TX 2009 AU so please can you tell me with version i should download and from where so that i will be able to use these buttons on windows 7 . All other button I mean quicklaunch buttons are working fine.
Download the latest HP QuickPlay Software , QuickPlay 3.7 v.6112 , it will works fine with windows 7.
If you found the quickplay button did not launch that software, reinstall Quick Launch Button software.
It will fix the instalation.

All I get with that version is it just keeps prompting me to upgrade to the latest version. Every time I try to play a Blu-ray, any Blu-ray it says a critical component is missing, would you like to up date to the most resent version ? It just goes around in circles.
Yet when I downloaded a trial version of Power DVD 9 from CyberLink it works great.
It would be nice if someone could find a solution to this. I have spent an entire day trying to solve it my self and I simply have run out of ideas.
This is on a dv7 1027ca.
Thanks for your advice I will try this today and let you know .
one more question do i have to install hp sling player seperately or is it in the quick play software?I want my play,Pause and forward, rewind hardware key to work. Thanks
You have a new model, have you tried installing HP MediaSmart DVD Software ?
For you new model, HP provides HP Media Smart software instead of QuickPlay software.
However, for Blu-Ray, I read somewhere people are also complaining about its compatibility.
Try it, you’ll happy with it.

Thanks Rakhmad, I will try this tonight and I will temporarily disable my virus protection as that seems to be causing a problem with the down load. «Format Not Supported» comes up if the anti virus software is not disabled. That was the other problem, but I haven’t tried disabling my firewall and anti virus (ESET).

I turned off Windows Fire Wall and disabled my Eset before downloading Media Smart and during installation. I still get the message «format not supported»
I guess it was worth a try. Could clearing out all the browsing history from IE8 be helpful in keeping the program from loading properly. That shouldn’t make any difference though.
I grasping at straws here .
Did and experiment.
I copied the actual Media Smart software to a memory card right out of the files on drive «C» from my dv8 1000 cto.
I know that it works on my dv8 playing blu-rays ; specifically «SeaBiscuit».
I copied the software into drive «C» on the dv7 1027ca and opened the software from the registry files with in the program. The window for Media Smart opened as normal and I used the eject button with in the software so the program is running properly, but when I tried to play SeaBiscuit, I got «format not supported»
I am guessing here that the Media Smart software is not recognising the model of the Blu-ray driver in the dv7 or that the driver for the Blu-ray is not compatible with the Media Smart software. Just have to find the right driver that works, if that’s even possible.
Maybe a light will go on in my head or some one else’s. The dvd/cd player is a «Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S ATA Device»
See my thread as to a solution for my problem :
I am also going to give thanks for Rakhmad for giving me a possible answer, but I am going to point out that it was my solution to update the BIOS that worked for me.
Windows 7.
