New Laptop; Windows 10 not Activated?
Hello everyone, I recently purchased this Razer Blade Stealth and I am having trouble finding anything online about it not having windows 10 activated.
Error Code: 0xC004C003
The error has existed since I first booted the computer up.
I have not attempted to install any different version of windows on this computer so I don’t know why this would be required, I was under the impression that a new computer (that came with windows 10) would already have windows activated.
I have installed several programs on this computer, but none that I think would change Windows to un-activate.
The support threads that I have looked through are not specific to my issue and most pertain to people who bought windows 10 separately and installed it on their computer or upgraded from a lower windows.
So, my questions are
1. How can I get my windows activated (hopefully without having to wipe my laptop)?
2. Without activated Windows 10, what am I losing out on?

Hello Andre, my problem with your suggestion is that it will not give me a product key. I simply do not have one, it seems. Once again, I just bought this laptop with windows 10 pre-installed, I should not have a product key should I? If so, where would I find it? The method you posted did not give me one.
Thank you for helping.

Error Code: 0xC004C003
You have four possible explanations for the error and each has its own solution. You need to eliminate which do not apply so that hopefully you can work which does apply in your situation. Yesterday I analysed and summarised the details in the link I posted here yesterday. Here is an abridged result for error code 0xC004C003.
Reasons can be Possible solutions
1. Incorrect product key. | 1. Enter different product key. |
2. Clean install instead of upgrade. | 2. Revert to original windows and upgrade. |
3. Activation servers busy. | 3. Try activating again later. |
4. Significant hardware changes. | 4. Contact customer support. |
Which of the four are you able to rule out? I suspect 3 is a fairly obvious candidate.
Have you contacted the supplier of the computer and discussed the problem with them?
Without activated Windows 10, what am I losing out on?
If Windows 10 is not activated it cannot be updated. You will not be able to benefit when bugs are fixed and improvements made.

I can eliminate 1, 3, and 4 from the list so that leaves 2.

Does « Clean install instead of upgrade» apply to a new computer with Windows 10 pre-installed?
My interpretation is that it would occur if the user did a clean install of Window 10 on a computer that has an existing copy of Windows (7 or 8) installed. They should revert to the original copy of Windows (7 or 8) and upgrade. By doing a clean install there is no product key available to be activated. A free upgrade can utilise the existing product key for the qualifying installed copy of Windows to activate.

Yes, they are the supplier of my computer. I did not actually have time to call them today, I’ll update this as answered if I get an answer tomorrow or when I call them.
I assume that this is a very uncommon problem as the error codes don’t apply to it. Thanks for your help anyway.

I assume that this is a very uncommon problem as the error codes don’t apply to it.
With error codes the devil is in the detail and interpretation can be extremely problematic. Problems frequently appear uncommon when the reality is somewhat different. Google searches get very different results when you use slightly different search criteria. It is too early to know whether you have an uncommon problem.
The web page on the Microsoft site containing the error code details was only found by me in the last week. It is quite possible that the page itself is very new, as I keep an eye open for this type of information. It takes time for supporting feedback from users to appear in Google to discover how to apply what Microsoft say about the individual error codes and for their meaning to become crystal clear. Microsoft uses its own version of English when documenting information about Windows.

Question
I reserved my free copy of windows 10 through the icon.
I then UPGRADED through the media creation tool.
I am now getting windows 10 is not activated — This product key doesn’t work you may need to get in touch with the shop or company you brought Windows from, or you can buy a new key from Microsoft.
Microsoft reps twice tried to put me through to the tech support dept — and it cut off twice.
Two others said — the servers are slow etc and to leave it upto 48 hours.
What worries me is — will it even activate — and do I have a unique problem — because I cant seem to find this error code in any other posts on the internet yet.
I really don’t want to have to wait for 48 hours just to have it stay the same and have to ring back anyway.
or did I get sent a dodgy windows 8.1 key.
— as a side note when I ran the upgrade it said — my language would be changed — does this maybe have something to do with it? or can you swap between en_us / en_uk — which is what I assume its doing?
Thank you for any help.

I have just rebooted and it now says —
Connect to the internet to activate
then in actual activation it says —
The activation server dertmined that the specified product key has been blocked
I am having the same exact problem as you. This is on a Dell 13″ XPS Infinity view laptop purchased from the Microsoft store earlier this year.
I reserved my copy via the windows icon in my system tray, then yesterday upgraded via the media creation tool. Since yesterday I am stuck with Error code: 0xC004C003 (details show my serial is block. ). Multiple restarts, no avail.
Don’t worry, your not the only one. Hopefully someone from Microsoft see’s us.
When I call them they assure me its because the servers are overloaded and to wait upto 48 hours — I suppose we have no choice.
If its still showing the same I will be calling them back.
Thanks for letting me know I’m not alone
What key did you use?
Did you clean install?
Did you try to change language?
Wanikiya and Dyami—Team Zigzag
I used a Windows 8.1 OEM key
I used the Media creation tool to «upgrade now» Keeping all files and settings (so no clean install just upgrade)
I installed Windows 8.1 — US install
When I ran the upgrade it said — this will change your installation language — so yes — I assume it changed it from US to UK which is where I am located.
I have just rebooted and it now says —
Connect to the internet to activate
then in actual activation it says —
The activation server dertmined that the specified product key has been blocked
This exact message is posted all over the forums, both technet and answers.microsoft.com.
The short of it is, the activation servers are overloaded, and they are working on it. However many people report that if you keep trying, it will eventually work.
I guess it’s like trying to call a radio station to win the prize. Majority of attempts will get a busy signal, but keep trying and you will eventually get through.
How do I try? I have no Activate button?

How do I try? I have no Activate button?
again, I am right there with you, no activation button:
If you clicked on the Change Product Key button, you’re out of luck. You will need to reinstall the original Win7/8 OS and upgrade again. If you didn’t, read the linked post.
Thanks for chiming in Kronical_420, but I think we are in a little bit of a different situation. I have already updated 2 x PC’s in my house which came from Windows 8.1 installs I performed.
The odd ball is my laptop, it’s a pre installed version of windows that gets it’s key from the BIOS/UEFI. There is no «serial» that is provided with them anymore, they are baked in.
Your suggestion to re-install is a sledge hammer approach and is not warranted here.
For #1, clicking the change key button or not makes no difference whether it activates. I know, because while waiting for one of my PC’s to activate I basically entered all 0’s to get it to do something, it says wrong key and continues to wait. Later it self activated.
Note: Vinod’s response is suggesting to not put in a different key. He is not saying that just by pressing the button you have stopped activation.
#2 For the laptop, there is no «reinstall» only restore from recovery partition.
Thanks anyways though, I think we are just waiting here. unless someone else has a better idea.
