iGetter stopped working on the newest macOS Version because 32Bit aren’t longer suopport by the OS.
Are the team planing a new version with 64Bit support?

On the Downloads page there is a large notice «(It will not run on macOS 10.15)» and a link named «Note to macOS 10.14+ users:» that points to:
https://igetter.net/faq.html#q1-16
There you can read that we can’t promise a rewritten 64-bit version anytime soon.

Does that mean iGetter will be completely unusable in Catalina until the 64-bit version is out (and how long do we have to wait?) Any workaround? Or else money spent on those file hosting services premium accounts (rapid, ul etc) will be totally wasted.

Sadly seems like iGetter is going to be useless on Mac quite soon. And I love using it. Does anyone know of a good 64-bit alternative??
09-30-2019 07:57 AM
I also need a new alternative for iGetter on Mac OS X Catalina.
10-05-2019 04:33 PM
Anyone come up with an alternative. I am not holding my breath waiting on iGetter developer to update, they couldn’t even be bothered updating it last time around, only to tell me to change browsers.
But hey. I live in hope they might do the right thing.
AND. I might add, for me, I am happy to pay for an updated and fully supported 64bit system that will work into the future. I do not expect developers to do the work for nothing.

I am a long time user of iGetter. I have moved on since there is no Catalina support, which was released today (10/7/19). I found a download manager called «Maxel» on the Apple App Store which is 64bit and works really well in Catalina.

There are plenty of 64bit download managers in AppStore, I tried the one called jDM mainly because its UI is close to iGetter and it supports segment download.
It works well on those file hosting services such as ul.to, it allows you to save direct download cookies from ul.to to jDM so you don’t need to worry about which browser to integrate with.
You can drag&drop, copy&paste real links or text links, or use context menu thru its browser’s extension, its Chrome extension has bug when ‘download selected with jDM’ but developer will fix it in next version.

Appreciate the answers for the alternatives, will check them out. Pretty pathetic non the less that the developers have known for well over a year that their software would be unusable once OS Catalina launched.
Doesn’t say much for customer support does it.

I would check out **** [Ad removed]. There is a free version but it is limited to splitting into two threads. At $20 it’s cheaper than iGetter, is fully Catalina compatible, and has browser extensions (for context menu clicking or link catching like iGetter) for both Firefox and Safari which Maxel does not. And it’s been updated frequently which jDM has not.
I’m currently testing the free version myself having thrown in the towel with Presenta and so far so good.

Try «******» [Ad removed] works for Mac Catalania and has extensions fro Chrome and Firefox

R.I.P iGetter. I would have paid for a 64-bit version. But now I have paid for an alternative and I am unlikely to look back. Sad.

iGetter is the best full featured download manager for OS X. Surely the developers are aware of this. It is a tremendously valuable product, and well worth a paid upgrade to 64-bit. Thanks for a terrific product! 😊

75 Reviews of iGetter
I compared iGetter 2.9.4 with Folx 5.0 and since I posted a review on the Folx page, I think that the results may be interesting for the iGetter users as well.
I downloaded 5 times with each app, iTunes12.4.1.dmg from the Apple servers (alternating Folx and iGetter, both with two threads). The result is:
1. iGetter is faster than Folx with a difference of avg. 48 sec. I measured the elapsed time with a chronograph app, because Folx has no Elapsed time value (except by extracting dates in the the Log).
2. iGetter speed is stable and Elapsed+Estimate times are correct. Folx speed varies so much that I can’t see any usable speed/estimate time value. Folx downloading stalls and fluctuates constantly.
3. iGetter shows a lot more information about the finished downloads (including referrer web page, avg.speed, elapsed time, finished date). Folx shows only file name and size.
4. All iGetter functions can be tried in the unregistered version for unlimited period. Folx Pro features (i.e. more than two threads, speed control, scheduling) have no trial.
You may compare both apps for yourself, but iGetter seems more mature than Folx (comparing the features that exist in both apps).
