Collection of custom folder 📂 icons for MacOS, Linux, and Windows.
What folder icons would you want
Hey, guess what? I am open to suggestions 😉 so you can just let me know what icons you would like?
How to ask for a Folder Icon
Just download the repository, and you can find all the images in icons folder.
Inside each category you will find three folders, linux , windows and mac .
How to change folder icon on Linux
Right-click on a folder and select «properties».
On properties window click on the framed icon located on the top left, Now you should see the dialog to choose a new image.

How to change folder icon on Windows
Right-click on a folder and select «properties.»
Choose the «Customize» tab, on the «Folder icons» section click on «Change Icon».

How to change folder icon on Mac
Right-click on a folder and select «Get Info»
Drag and drop an icon from the mac folder (.icns) on the icon preview located on Top left of the Get info dialogue.
The collections are sorted Alphabatically 🔤 .

Create custom icons for files or folders on Mac
You can create a custom icon for any file or folder using your own pictures, icons downloaded from the web, or the icon from another file or folder.
Use your own picture or a picture from the web
On your Mac, copy the picture you want to use to the Clipboard.
One way to do this is to open the picture in the Preview app 
, choose Edit > Select All, then choose Edit > Copy.
Select the file or folder whose icon you want to replace, then choose File > Get Info.
At the top of the Info window, click the picture of the icon, then choose Edit > Paste.
Use an icon from another file or folder
On your Mac, select the file or folder whose icon you want to use, then choose File > Get Info.
At the top of the Info window, click the icon, then choose Edit > Copy.
Select the other file or folder, then choose File > Get Info.
Click the icon, then choose Edit > Paste.
Restore the original icon for an item
On your Mac, select the file or folder, then choose File > Get Info.
At the top of the Info window, select the custom icon, then choose Edit > Cut.

About Folder Icons
Folder Icons is a pack of custom icons for folders. We believe that organized people are more productive. Custom folder icons can help to be more organized by replacing simple folders with custom ones. It visually helps to find needed folder faster by focusing on the icon of the folder. macOS:
Right click on the folder and select Get Info or select the folder and press (CMD+I) . Highlight the folder icon at top left corner of window by double-click then drag the .icns file to the highlighted icon.
Windows:
Right click on the application shortcut icon, select Properties from dropdown, select Shortcut from tabs and then Change Icon. .

How to Customize File and Folder Icons on Your Mac
This article shows you how to change the icon of any file or folder on your Mac. Apart from adding a bit of personal style to your desktop, there are good practical reasons why you might want to do so.
For example, perhaps you’ve dragged some folders to your Dock so that you can easily drop items into them, but you don’t want to have to keep hovering your mouse over their generic blue icons to identify which is which.

To customize a file or folder icon, simply follow the steps below. You can use your own pictures as icons. Alternatively, there are a wealth of icon libraries hosted online, so you could try a web search for free icon pack downloads for Mac.
Note: If you find icons online in the .icns format, you can drag these icon types directly onto the icon in a file or folder’s Info panel, thereby skipping the Preview steps described below.
- Double-click the picture or icon you want to use to open it in your Mac’s built-in Preview app.
Choose Edit -> Select All in Preview’s menu bar, or use the keyboard shortcut Command-A.
Click the icon in the top left of the Info panel to select it.
Choose Edit -> Paste from the menu bar, or use the keyboard shortcut Command-V.
If you want to revert a file or folder to its default icon, open its Get Info panel again, click the icon in the panel to select it, and choose Edit -> Cut or use the keyboard shortcut Command-X. You can also select and copy (Edit -> Copy) a file or folder’s icon in its Info panel for use elsewhere.

How to I use these things?
Download and unzip the Github Folder Icons.zip. In there you’ll find some folders with the custom icons. To apply one of these to your repository folder get info (by pressing ⌘I) on the folder, click on the icon in the upper left of the information dialog and copy (by pressing ⌘C). Get info on your target folder and paste the icon likewise. You can get elaborate instructions in Apple knowledge base article TA20788
